Cllr Matt Bennett & Cllr Deirdre Alden Fight to Save Sorting Office

Edgbaston residents could be forced to travel to Aston to collect parcels or post, if the Royal Mail’s plans come to fruition. Edgbaston is currently served by the Sorting Office on Plough and Harrow Road, which is convenient for collecting parcels and registered mail that can’t be delivered. However, the Royal Mail is planning to close the office and move Edgbaston’s deliveries to Aston. Deirdre and Matt have written to Royal Mail asking them to reconsider.

Matt said

It is far better for residents to have this facility close by. It helps make deliveries more reliable and if parcels need to be collected it is not far to travel. It will be much less convenient to have to go to Aston, and I expect deliveries will suffer. We hope they will think again.

Save the Plough & Harrow Road Sorting Office

Royal Mail are closing the Sorting Office on Plough and Harrow Road which serves Edgbaston, and relocating the service to Aston, which will be less convenient for residents to travel to when collecting parcels, and is likely to affect the reliability of deliveries. We, the undersigned call on Royal Mail to reconsider and keep a local Sorting Office in or near Edgbaston.
