Birmingham Labour are sitting on early £200 Million of unspent transport funding
Birmingham Labour are sitting on early £200 Million of unspent transport funding

Put the £180 million back to work – fix our roads now!

At the 24 June 2025 Cabinet meeting Labour admitted that £180 million of transport and highways cash was left unspent last year.

  • Birmingham’s roads are crumbling, yet £94 million for major schemes and £43 million for day-to-day repairs were pushed into future years.
  • A further £46 million of Highways PFI money is sitting in reserves instead of resurfacing streets today.
  • Residents are paying more Council Tax for fewer services – but still swerving potholes and waiting for buses that never arrive.

Fix our roads now!

We, the undersigned, call on Birmingham City Council to:

  1. Release the frozen £180 million immediately and publish a month-by-month delivery plan for resurfacing, pothole repairs and junction upgrades.
  2. Guarantee that future transport grants are spent in the year they’re received, not squirrelled away to prop up Labour’s failing finances.
  3. Work with the West Midlands Combined Authority to unlock additional funds and get the city moving again.

If you’re tired of paying more and getting less, add your name below and share this petition. Together, we can force the Council to stop hoarding and start fixing!
