Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Banners Gate Counselling Centre, a local Sutton Coldfield health charity, to catch up on progress made in the Centre’s sixteenth year and to voice his continued support to Director, Madeline Partridge and her voluntary counselling team. He was accompanied by local Vesey Councillor Lyn Collin.

The Coalition Government has made investment in mental health services a priority with a focus on the NHS, councils and voluntary organisations working together to improve the nation’s mental health.

Director, Madeline Partridge, commented “In 2011 the demand for counselling in Sutton Coldfield remained high and we increased our appointments to 2500 over the year.”

“I was delighted to welcome Andrew Mitchell to the Centre to update him on our work over the last year and explain about the extended counselling service we now offer to his constituents.”

Following his visit to the Centre on Boldmere Road, Andrew Mitchell MP, said “Huge thanks must be given to Director, Madeline Partridge, and the fifty dedicated volunteers who offer their time and skills to support individuals in Sutton Coldfield who need to access a professional low cost mental health service.”

“Banners Gate Counselling Centre has responded positively to this Government’s new strategy for delivering mental health services and is an excellent example of community action in Sutton Coldfield.”

If you would like to arrange an appointment with Banners Gate Counselling Centre call 0121 354 6544 on weekday mornings (except Wednesday) from 10am.
