Earlier this week Cllr Alex Yip, Deputy Leader of the Local Conservative Group (Sutton Wylde Green Ward), on behalf of the Birmingham Local Conservatives Group wrote to the Leader of Birmingham City Council calling on the Library of Birmingham to be lit up in England colours for the England vs Mexico match on Sunday evening/Monday morning and for the remaining England matches during the World Cup.
Following the calls from the Local Conservatives, Birmingham City Council have confirmed they will now proudly light up the Library of Birmingham for the England match.
Cllr Alex Yip said "Phew it was close in the last round. But by Harry we made it through. It's going to be a massive match on Sunday night/Monday early Morning. vs Mexico.
Our city loves football and supporting England unites Blues fans and Villa fans. It even unites fans of West Brom, Wolves and the rest of the county! That is why Birmingham Local Conservatives called on Birmingham City Council to light up the Library of Birmingham in red and white on Sunday night and for all remaining England games up and including the final. It is great to see the Council get into the spirit and agree to our request to light up the Library of Birmingham".
Alex added "Now we just need to end 60 years of hurt and bring the World Cup home! Come on England"!
