This is a deeply serious issue, and victims deserve answers.
As Scrutiny Chair, Local Conservatives’ Cllr Matt Bennett has been pressing for these matters to be brought into the open and properly examined.
With reports of six grooming gangs and 98 live investigations across the West Midlands, there must be proper scrutiny of what happened, what authorities knew and whether opportunities to protect vulnerable children were missed.
The priority must be the truth, accountability and justice for victims and survivors.
These are difficult questions, but they must be asked and Birmingham Local Conservatives and Cllr Matt Bennett will continue pressing for answers.
