It has taken twenty years of campaigning by Nigel Dawkins and the local Conservative team but last night the front doors were opened for the first time in 27 years as the newly restored Stirchley Baths was finally opened for business.

It was the first opportunity for members of the public to stroll around the new building and a large crowd spent the evening gazing upon an interior many had not seen in twenty seven years.

There were so many people there who had leant to swim in the Stirchley Baths and who had such wonderful childhood memories of the place.

For many, it was a very emotional visit. It was as if an old friend had come back into their lives after so many years.
