Taking Action to Tidy up Kingstanding!

Local residents and councillors Gary Sambrook and Ron Storer have been working hard on trying to clear up the constant dumping of rubbish, fly tipping and anti-social behaviour which has been affecting Kingstanding ward recently. Right across Kingstanding, Perry Common, New Oscott and Wyrley Birch there has been an increase in fly-tipping and litter. Since the Labour run City Council decided to charge for bulky rubbish collections, green waste and pest control things have over got worse.

Both Gary and Ron have spoken out against the Council’s plans – but they just wouldn’t listen. So Gary and Ron have been getting stuck in and taking practical action to help tidy up our area.

They have been holding regular litter picks, helped fund 17 new bins locally, and had fly-tipping removed. Litter picks have been held with residents groups, like the new Friends of The Pimple group. The new bins have now been installed right across the ward which local residents asked for. Both Gary and Ron have helped get rid of dumped rubbish in Ercall Close, Landswood Close, Dovedale Road, Banners Walk, Finchley Park and many other places. Councillor Gary Sambrook said, “Since I was elected last year I have tried to do as much as I can in taking action to tackle these problems. Constantly the Council have made bad decision after bad decision when it comes to tackling litter and rubbish. They need to get their act together and sort out this mess!”

Gary and Ron will continue to work on these issues, and have been working hard to ease the problems of the Council’s shambolic wheelie bin roll out. It was a complete nightmare. Councillor Ron Storer said, “Gary and I have been inundated with complaints about the wheelie bin service. The mess that was left behind didn’t do anything to help tidy up our area. Most of the problems are now sorted but issues still occur. We warned the Labour run Council what would happen – but they just didn’t listen.”

If you know of any dumped rubbish that needs clearing up please get in contact with Gary Gary.Sambrook@birmingham.gov.uk or Ron ron.storer@birmingham.gov.uk .
