Following the Labour Administration’s decision to alter the portfolio briefs of cabinet members at Birmingham City Council, and Shadow Cabinet Member for Housing & Homelessness, Cllr Ken Wood (Con, Sutton Walmley and Minworth) being elected Lord Mayor of Birmingham, the following appointments to the shadow cabinet have been made:

Shadow Cabinet Member for Finance – Cllr Meirion Jenkins

Shadow Cabinet Member for Digital, Culture, Heritage & Tourism – Cllr Darius Sandhu

Shadow Cabinet Member for Social Justice, Community Safety and Equalities – Cllr Alex Yip

Shadow Cabinet Member for Health & Social Care – Cllr Matt Bennett

Shadow Cabinet Member for Housing & Homelessness – Cllr Bruce Lines

Shadow Cabinet Member for Environment & Transport – Cllr Tim Huxtable

Shadow Cabinet Member for Children, Young People & Families – Cllr Adam Higgs

Shadow Cabinet Member for Transformation, Governance & HR – Cllr Deirdre Alden

Lead Member on Licensing - Cllr Maureen Cornish

 

On his appointment as Shadow Cabinet Member for Housing & Homelessness, Cllr Bruce Lines (Con, Bartley Green) said,

 

First of all I want to thank Cllr Wood for the work he's done as Shadow Cabinet Member for Housing & Homelessness. I'm excited to be to stepping into this new role and taking on such an important brief. Our tenants deserve quality homes which they can feel safe and happy in, and I promise to do everything in my power as Shadow Cabinet Member for Homes & Homelessness to hold the City's Labour Administration to account and push the council to deliver the best service it can to our tenants.
